Dr. Darren Dickson Strives To Deliver Life-Changing Smiles

At an early age, he was fascinated with the smile transformation of his sister, Deanne, an extreme thumb-sucker until she received braces. When Dr. Dickson saw the remarkable cosmetic, anatomic, physiologic, and psychological changes that took place after her orthodontic treatment, he knew he wanted to be part of the transformation process in giving others beautiful, healthy smiles as well.

As his appreciation evolved into a fascination with how oral and overall health connect, Dr. Dickson decided to pursue a career in the field that’s led him to become a well-respected dentist in his hometown of Plano, TX.

Dr. Dickson’s path began at Plano Senior High School and then Texas A&M University where he earned a liberal arts and biology degree in 1991. From there, he completed his doctor of dental surgery (D.D.S.) degree at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas and studied dental implantology at the University of Texas Health Science Center.

Throughout his career, he’s earned high praise, elected by the Consumers’ Research Council as one of “America’s Top Dentists,” voted Plano’s “Best Aesthetic Dentist” by the Star Local Media Readers’ Choice Awards, and voted “Super Dentist” by Texas Monthly magazine.

A Dedication To Transform Dentistry

Dr. Dickson aims to transform dentistry so our patients at My Dentist in Plano are informed, confident, and empowered to take control of their oral health. His experience as a teaching faculty member at the CARD Institute (Center for Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry) since 2006, as well as his participation in such highly regarded groups like the North Texas Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and Academy of Biomimetic Dentistry, all speak to his ongoing commitment to cutting-edge dentistry. Other evidence of his commitment to patient care includes:

• Fellowship status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists
• Co-Chairman of North Texas Dental Society’s Give Kids A Smile program (2008-2010), which helps underserved children receive free dental care
• Alternate state delegate for the Texas Dental Association (2010)
• Founder of Helping Hearts, a nonprofit that helps serve the dental needs of Collin County’s underprivileged

Dr. Dickson spends most of his free time with his beautiful wife and two kids. He enjoys cooking on the grill, helping the kids with homework and coaching their sports teams, practicing martial arts, traveling to see family, hunting, fishing, and snowboarding.
