I enrolled my family into the VIP program at My Dentist Plano and am very pleased! Our previous Dental Insurance from work was not sufficient for our needs, so we opted to become VIP's! 😁 The staff I met today, a hygienist and the ladies at the front desk, including the office manager. All were professional and very nice. They took time with me to make decisions and helped me by answering my questions. The dentist is top notch and personable! And the dental equipment in the office is high quality and way better than standard stuff. For example I can get a crown the same day instead of waiting a few weeks. Here's info about the VIP Program. There are Two Dental Cleanings, Two Exams, Two Floride Treatments, All X-rays and of course Oral Cancer Screening are all covered each year with this Program. It's $295 per person/family member, for the year and that's an ok price for all the plan covers. Plus there's a 15% Discount for other procedures like sealants and fillings. And if cost is still an issue, I was told there are payment plans or as a VIP member, I could get an additional 10% off if I prepaid for a procedure. So to me, this price per year is better than regular dental insurance and there are no limits to what is covered or limitations for when my family can get needed dental work done. Here's a hypothetical example. If I had serious dental problems, with insurance I would only be able to get some of the dental work needed, this year. Why, you ask. Because the insurance company only covers a small amount dental work each year. And they don't pay for everything! There are copays for all procedures. So I would have to wait until next year to do the rest of the necessary work and hope the problem doesn't deteriorate before next year. Now with the VIP Program, I choose when I will get the work done and not some company that is making a profit off me and my family! And since I am a wimp in the dental chair, there's nitrous oxide available to help relax me during a procedure. Final conclusion, I highly recommend My Dentist, Plano! It's The Place to help families or anyone get back to excellent oral hygiene through quality dental care! More

Same Day Crown I am a long-time patient at My Dentist in Plano and recently had an older crown that needed to be replaced. My appointment was at 7:00 AM and after arriving I learned that they now have the equipment on-site to produce same day crowns. Every step went as smooth as possible. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, was the first time our 4 year old has been to the dentist.  Dr. Dickson and his staff made her feel so comfortable and relaxed that she held her mouth open even when they weren’t cleaning her teeth.  To top it off she has some cavities and she’s begging to go back so Dr. Darren can get her "cavity bugs".  The icing on the cake was the way Dr. Darren explained what cavities are, how we get them, and most importantly how we can prevent them.  Since coming home from the visit with Dr. Darren our sugar craving 4 year old has avoided the coveted fruity pebbles and has opted for fruit for the win!  Many thanks to Dr. Dickson and his amazing staff!!  Looking forward to seeing you soon to fix the "cavity bugs"!  Our whole family (Mom, Dad, 11yo and 4yo) appreciate that we can all be seen together under one roof! Dear Dr. Dickson, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the amazing results with my new smile. I came to you at the suggestion of one of your happy patients, also a work associate of mine. I had been given a recommended plan and quote from another dentist and wanted to get a second opinion. I remember the other plan was a little less expensive and would have provided quicker results. But I also remember you advised me that the results of the other plan could put me in a dental chair regularly for major procedures for the rest of my life. As soon as I walked into your office, I felt comfortable. The care and attention of your staff is exemplary. You put together an entire team of an orthodontist and gum surgeon to combine with your dental expertise. At one time, there was even discussion I may need a jaw surgeon to perform major surgery. Thankfully, in the end the jaw surgery was not necessary. You were able to accomplish the results with only minor gum surgery. The process took a couple of years, but I am thrilled with the results. Being in sales, I find that one of my greatest assets is my smile. My smile has given me greater confidence and helped me build success in my career. I am often complimented on my wonderful smile. I have been seeing Dr. Dickson for about 18 months now, after a 10-year leave of absence from visiting ANY dentist. My story and recommendation is long because the backstory is so important to why I recommend Dr. Dickson. To say I was frightened of the “horrendous dental chair” is an understatement. When I was 6 months old, I had scarlet fever and chicken pox at the same time. The treatment for these caused my enamel not to develop; that strong substance that protects your pearly whites, I have none. Dental work began for me as soon as my permanent teeth started coming in. My first cavity was drilled at the age of 5, with little to no numbing. From there, about 20 years in and out of the dentist chairs, every 6 months some new tooth to drill or root canal to be had. I have had veneers two prior times and my last root canal was about 10 years ago. After that, I just quit going. My memories are vivid: pain, discomfort, embarrassment, frustration … I then met Dr. Dickson through mutual friends. After talking with his wife first, she assured me I could do this and Dr. Dickson and his team would help me. First and foremost, his entire staff is AMAZING. They were patient with me as I, full of fear, walked in the office for the first time. The sound of any drills really brings me to my edge, so Lin, ever so quickly, pulled me from the waiting room and hollered to the staff, “Let’s get her comfortable, NOW!” I was sedated for my first cleaning and assessment of what was sure to be a huge project. When I went back for my consult, they made sure to take me quickly to where I couldn’t hear work being done, and Lin and I went over the whole plan. From there, Dr. Dickson restored my teeth in three sessions, all under sedation. He checked on me the evening after each session. The restoration has been life-changing. I have no discomfort, my teeth look natural, I smile fully and get so many compliments. I can really see it in photos!!! More importantly, together, we have pretty much conquered my fear. I have successfully followed up with two more cleanings on schedule, with NO cavities, and have graduated to not needing sedation for cleanings. Suzie is my hygienist and she quickly gets me in my chair and the nitrous started to ease my anxiety, and she lovingly calls it my “cocktail hour.” She always checks with me throughout the cleaning to see where my anxiety level is at. She and Dr. Dickson are kind as we talk through what I need to work on to keep my teeth healthy and beautiful. I have never felt negative about myself or reprimanded walking out of that office, which was so common with dentists before. I walked out on Wednesday after my cleaning and shed some tears. Battling my poor teeth health for so many years, Dr. Dickson and his colleagues have truly helped me make a transition that I never could have done on my own! Thanks Dr. D and staff! More

I am extremely reluctant to find new doctors because you never know what you're going to get - especially dentists! My regular dentist was too far for me to drive so I had been searching for about a month for a dentist. Some places felt like all they wanted was to up-charge, some felt like they were just there for a paycheck - Not My Dentist in Plano. This place was recommended to me by a friend and after doing research online I decided to give them a try. I am extremely happy that I did. The staff is extremely welcoming, professional and courteous! Dr. Dickson is nice and informative, the hygienist, Terry, was extremely friendly and was very gentle while cleaning my teeth. I've been to dentists where they are too rough and my gums hurt like hell after. The front office staff is very pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend giving this office a shot. This is a great dentist office! From Rachel to Susie to Cindy to Yolanda to Dr. Dickson himself, everyone if fantastic, extremely helpful and very patient with a nervous dental patient such as myself. I have been going here for a few years for cleanings and recently had some necessary dental surgery done. They played my favorite playlist, put HGTV on the screen and made me extremely comfortable with a cosy neck pillow. After my first visit, the cleaning went smoothly and the hygienist took time to understand my concerns of the scraping and the pain that I normally have during cleanings. Susie is my most favorite hygienist, and I wouldn't trade her for the world. I've had her for years. Most of the time at other dentists I've never had this excellent level of treatment. I was greeted by name to my appointment, and it felt very family like. Shout-out to Lynn for always giving a friendly visit. I had a temporary crown done and about 3 cavities filled. The work was done on both sides of my mouth. I warned Dr. Dickson I take awhile to get numb and I wanted nitrous oxide. I had all that work done. Dr. Dickson and his assistants were GREAT!! I felt no pain. He did not rush. He gave plenty of time for the numbing medicine to work. If a dental appointment can possibly be pleasant, this one was. I will be going back for the crown next week and also to start my Invisalign process. Oh, Dr. Dickson texted me the evening of my dental work to see if I was doing ok. The only misunderstanding was on the payment. I had a Free consultation a few days after my cleaning to discuss all the work that needed to be done. At the end, I was told if I pay upfront I would get a discount. I did not understand that pay upfront meant that day. My thinking was if I paid for crown, fillings and about $3000 worth of Invisalign the day of my appointment. I guess I got pay in full confused with pay a week ahead. Anyway, they worked it out with me. I believe Dr. Dickson and his staff are very professional and well trained. I would certainly recommend them to anyone who might need a dentist. I found him through a new homeowners mailer. More

My regular dentist was too far for me to drive so I had been searching for about a month for a dentist. This place was recommended to me by a friend and after doing research online I decided to give them a try. I am extremely happy that I did. The staff is extremely welcoming, professional and courteous! Dr. Dickson is nice and informative, the hygienist, Terry, was extremely friendly and was very gentle while cleaning my teeth. I have been a patient of Dr. Dickson's since 2015 and in the summer of 2017 I had a tooth crowned and the sensitivity to cold never seemed to subside. Over Christmas one of my relatives had made ice cream and I had to politely decline due to the anticipation of the sensitivity which was not pleasant to endure. Dr. Dickson recommended a root canal (my first one ever!) and while I wasn't thrilled to hear that Dr. Dickson also explained that sensitivity could indicate a larger and more serious problem. I would argue that this is what separates Dr. Dickson from the other dentists who have treated me: he cares enough about my well-being to recommend a procedure so as to relieve the current situation and prevent future problems. I would also add that I have several relatives who have upper and lower dentures and many of my childhood memories visiting those relatives involve seeing them take out their teeth ad lace them in a glass. Needless to say I do not want to reach that point and that is why I am happy to be a patient. More

No I should not have waited almost 7 months to address this issue, because the problem could have been solved much sooner, but I digress. Over the Christmas holidays one of my relatives had made ice cream and I had to politely decline due to the anticipation of the sensitivity to cold which was not pleasant t...o endure and I did not want said relative to think that my grimace from pain was in reaction to the ice cream. At my most recent cleaning and review Dr. Dickson recommended a root canal (my first one ever!) which I found to be terrifying and would recommend a name change for that procedure. Now I like to be informed and Dr. Dickson always takes to address my questions, however ridiculous they may be, he explained that sensitivity could indicate a larger and more serious problem. I'm at fault for waiting this long to address a problem and thankfully I learn from my mistakes and I would argue that this is what separates Dr. Dickson from the other dentists who have treated me: he cares enough about my well-being to recommend a preventative procedure so as to relieve the current situation and prevent future problems. My story and recommendation is long, because the back story is so important to why I give Dr. Dickson 5 stars. To say I was frightened of the "horrendous dental chair" is an understatement. When I was 6 months old I had scarlet fever and chicken pox at the same time. The treatment for these caused my enamel not to develop. Ya, that strong substance the protects... your pearly whites, I have none. Dental work began for me as soon as my permanent teeth started coming in. My first cavity was drilled at the age of 5, with little to no numbing. From there, about 20 years in and out of dentist chairs, every 6 months some new tooth to drill or root canal to be had. I have had veneers 2 prior times and my last root canal was about 10 years ago after that I just quit going. My memories are vivid: pain, discomfort, embarrassment, frustration... I then met Dr. Dickson through mutual friends. After talking with his wife first, she assured me I could do this and Dr. Dickson and his team would help me. First and foremost, his entire staff is AMAZING. They were patient with me as I, full of fear, walked in the office the first time. The sound of any drills really brings me to my edge so Lin, ever so quickly, pulled me from the waiting room and hollered to the staff, let's get her comfortable NOW! I was sedated for my first cleaning and assessment of what was sure to be a huge project. When I went back for my consult, they made sure to take me quickly to where I couldn't hear work being done and Lin and I went over the whole plan. From there, Dr. Dickson restored my teeth in three long sessions, all under sedation. He checked on me the evening after each session. And,the restoration has been life changing. I have no discomfort, my teeth look natural, I smile fully and get so many compliments. I can really see it in photos!!! More importantly, together, we have pretty much conquered my fear. I have successfully followed up with 2 more cleanings, on scheduled, with NO cavities and have graduated to not needing sedation for cleanings. Suzie is my hygienist and she quickly gets me in my chair and the nitrous started to ease my anxiety and she lovingly calls it my "cocktail hour." She always checks with me throughout the cleaning to see where my anxiety level is at. She and Dr. Dickson are kind as we talk through what I need to work on to keep my teeth healthy and beautiful. I have never felt negative about myself or reprimanded walking out of that office which was so common with dentists before. I walked out on Wednesday after my cleaning and shed some tears. Everyone who knows me, knows I am a chicken when it comes to dentists, but I have a lot of trust in Dr. Dickson and his staff. So much that, even when living in Austin or now, in Tyler, I still go to him as I did when we lived in Dallas! Yesterday, I just had a cleaning with Yolanda and she was wonderful. Dr. Dickson and his team are a great group to work with. I have a large family and they're great at helping me stay on top of who needs what. Also, the personal follow-up after procedures is much appreciated. The whole team is clearly interested in the long-term health of my family. More

My husband and I both see Dr. Dickson. He spends time with his clients, taking care to get to know them. He is not the cheapest dentist in town, but I have been to cheap dentists and I chose Dickson every time. My husband and I have both had surgical procedures done.
